Archiving and Preservation Policy
Archiving and Preservation Policy
JETS is committed to preserving its published research and keeping the scholarly record accessible for the long term, regardless of changes to the journal's website, platform, publisher or publication status.
Research published in the Journal of Engineering and Technological Sciences (JETS) is intended to remain available not only today but for as long as researchers, engineers, students and the wider public need it.
Engineers and scientists continue to cite work published in the journal's predecessor titles dating back to the 1960s. JETS therefore treats preservation of its published record as an essential part of responsible scholarly publishing.
This policy explains how JETS and its publisher, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), preserve journal content and maintain access to it, including in the event of changes to the journal's website or publication platform.
This policy contains several operational details that require confirmation before final publication, including specific preservation services, library holdings, backup arrangements and access to some historical volumes. These details should be verified by the journal before this page is treated as the final policy.
What We Preserve
JETS preserves the complete published record of the journal, including:
The final published version of every article, in PDF.
Titles, authors, affiliations, abstracts, keywords, references, funding information, licences and DOIs.
Supplementary material published with articles on the journal website.
Correction, retraction, expression-of-concern and addendum notices, together with their links to the original articles.
Issue tables of contents, covers and front matter.
How Content Is Preserved
JETS uses several independent arrangements so that the loss of any one preservation mechanism does not put the journal's content at risk.
PKP Preservation Network
JETS participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a free service run by the Public Knowledge Project for journals using Open Journal Systems.
Through PKP PN, copies of the journal's published content are stored in several research libraries around the world using LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) technology.
If the journal's website becomes permanently unavailable, the preserved content can be released and made openly available.

Other Preservation Services
National Legal Deposit
As a publication with a print ISSN, JETS deposits its printed issues with the National Library of Indonesia (Perpustakaan Nasional Republik Indonesia) in accordance with Law No. 13 of 2018 on the Deposit of Printed and Recorded Works.
ITB Library
Server Backups
The journal's website, database and files are hosted on servers managed by ITB.
Persistent Identifiers and Links
Every JETS article is registered with Crossref and receives a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) with the prefix 10.5614.
A DOI always points to the current location of an article. If the journal's website moves to a new address or platform, the journal updates its records with Crossref so that every DOI continues to lead readers to the correct article.
Readers and authors should always cite and link to JETS articles using the DOI rather than the web address of the article page.
Where the Archive Can Be Found
Because of changes in platform over the years, JETS content is currently available in several locations.
Proceedings ITB on Engineering Science and ITB Journal of Engineering Science.
https://journal.itb.ac.idITB is committed to keeping these archives online. If any archive is moved, its DOIs will be updated and, where possible, the old web addresses will redirect to the new location.
If the Journal Changes or Ceases Publication
If JETS changes its publisher, platform or title, or stops publishing, ITB will:
Articles published in JETS will not be withdrawn from public access as a result of any such change.
Access and Licensing of Archived Content
Archived articles remain open access and are available under the same Creative Commons licence under which they were originally published.
No fee or registration is required to access the archive.
Articles published before the journal adopted a Creative Commons licence remain freely available to read. The journal should specify the terms under which those articles may be reused.
Authors' Own Archiving
In addition to the journal's own arrangements, authors are free to deposit their articles in institutional, national and subject repositories. This further increases the number of places where the work is preserved and available to readers.
The versions that may be deposited and the conditions that apply are described in the JETS Repository Policy.
