Repository (Self-Archiving) Policy

JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGICAL SCIENCES

Repository (Self-Archiving) Policy

JETS encourages authors to share their research widely through repositories, preprint servers and other recognised academic platforms.

The Journal of Engineering and Technological Sciences (JETS) encourages authors to share their work as widely as possible. Depositing articles in repositories makes research easier to find, helps authors meet the requirements of their institutions and funders, and adds to the number of places where published work is preserved.

This policy explains which versions of an article authors may deposit, where they may deposit them, when they may do so, and what conditions apply.

JETS Self-Archiving Principle

Authors may deposit any version of their article, in any repository, at any time, with no embargo, provided that the published version in JETS is properly acknowledged.

01
Article Versions

Versions of an Article

P

Preprint (Submitted Version)

The manuscript as first submitted to JETS, before peer review.

A

Accepted Manuscript

The version accepted for publication after peer review, including all changes made in response to reviewers, but before copyediting, typesetting and proofreading by the journal.

V

Published Version (Version of Record)

The final version as published in JETS, with the journal's layout, pagination and DOI.

02
Deposit Rights

What Authors May Deposit, and When

Preprint
Anytime

May be deposited before submission and during review.

Accepted Manuscript
Immediately

May be deposited immediately on acceptance.

Published Version
On Publication

May be deposited immediately on publication.

Embargo
No embargo period applies to any version.
03
Repository Options

Where Authors May Deposit

Authors may deposit their articles in any of the following, among others:

Institutional Repositories

The repository of the author's own university or research institution.

National Repositories and Portals
  • RIN (Repositori Ilmiah Nasional), managed by BRIN
  • Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital) and other national research portals
Subject Preprint Servers
  • engrXiv — engineering
  • EarthArXiv — earth sciences
  • ChemRxiv — chemistry and chemical engineering
  • arXiv — physics, mathematics and related fields
  • Other recognised preprint servers
Funder and Subject Repositories

Any repository required or recommended by the author's funder.

Personal and Academic Sites
  • Author's personal or research-group website
  • Google Scholar
  • ORCID
  • ResearchGate
  • Academia.edu
Third-party Repositories

Because JETS articles are openly licensed, third parties may also deposit the published version in repositories and databases, in line with the applicable licence.

04
Deposit Conditions

Conditions for Deposit

Whatever the version and wherever it is deposited, authors should:

cite the published article in full, including its DOI;
link to the published version on the JETS website using the DOI;
state the licence under which the article is published;
use the published version, or the accepted manuscript, rather than the preprint once these are available, where the repository allows it.

Suggested Wording

Preprint

"This is a preprint of an article [submitted to / published in] the Journal of Engineering and Technological Sciences. The final version is available at https://doi.org/10.5614/[DOI]."

Accepted Manuscript

"This is the accepted manuscript of an article published in the Journal of Engineering and Technological Sciences, [volume, issue, pages, year], https://doi.org/10.5614/[DOI]. This version has been peer reviewed but has not been copyedited or typeset by the journal. © The Authors. Licensed under CC BY 4.0."

Published Version

"[Authors], [year]. [Title]. Journal of Engineering and Technological Sciences, [volume]([issue]), [pages]. https://doi.org/10.5614/[DOI]. © The Authors. Licensed under CC BY 4.0."

05
Preprints

Preprints and Submission to JETS

Posting a preprint does not count as prior publication. JETS will consider manuscripts that have been posted as preprints, provided that:

the preprint is disclosed in the cover letter, with its link;
the preprint server is a recognised, non-commercial service and not a journal or conference proceedings.
Double-blind review

Because JETS uses double-blind review, a preprint may allow reviewers to identify the authors. Reviewers are asked not to search for the authors of manuscripts they review, and the existence of a preprint does not affect the handling of the manuscript.

What authors should not post

Authors should not post reviewer comments or the journal's decision letters with their preprint.

Authors may update the preprint with revised versions during review. Once the article is published, authors should update the preprint record with a link to the published version so that readers are directed to the final, peer-reviewed article.

06
Corrections and Retractions

When an Article Is Corrected or Retracted

If a correction, expression of concern or retraction is published for an article, authors should update every copy they have deposited.

Replace

Replace the deposited copy with the corrected version where appropriate.

Add Notice

Add the correction or other publication notice.

Retraction

Clearly mark the deposited copy as retracted and link to the retraction notice.

This helps prevent readers from relying on an outdated or withdrawn version. Notices are described in the JETS Post-publication Discussions and Corrections Policy.
07
Compliance

Funder and Institutional Requirements

This policy is intended to allow authors to comply with the open access and deposit requirements of their funders and institutions without seeking further permission from JETS.

Authors should nevertheless check the specific requirements that apply to them.

Policy Confirmation Letter

The editorial office can provide a letter confirming the journal's repository policy if a funder or institution requests one.

Confirmation Required

Verify whether the JETS repository policy is registered with Jisc Open Policy Finder (formerly Sherpa Romeo). If registered, add the official link here. If it is not registered, this statement should be removed from the final public policy.

08
Journal Preservation

Archiving by the Journal

Independently of authors' deposits, JETS preserves all of its published content through the arrangements described in the JETS Archiving and Preservation Policy .

Author self-archiving and journal preservation are complementary.
Multiple copies and locations help improve discoverability, accessibility and long-term preservation of scholarly work.
